
Complementary and alternative medicines are a group of diverse medical and health care systems, practices, and products that are not presently considered to be part of conventional medicine. Conventional medicine is practiced only by holders of M.D. or D.O. degrees. Some people may think that complementary and alternative medicines are the same thing, but that is a common misconception. Complementary medicine is used together with conventional medicine. Alternative medicine, on the other hand, is used in place of conventional medicine.
