PHILOSOPHY

The purpose of the Gage County School District No. 34 is to provide the opportunity and the means by which each individual can become all that he or she is capable of becoming.

The primary goal of the Gage County School District No. 34 shall be to improve the role of each citizen in our community, state, and nation.  We believe that each student has the right, responsibility, and obligation to contribute to the society of which he or she is a part.  In preparing students for the future, their present needs should also be considered.

The function of the school is not so much to provide answers as it is to stimulate and motivate students.  We believe that the individual student should be evaluated in light of his or her own talents and the programs offered, and that each student should have the opportunity to evaluate himself or herself in terms of his or her needs, talents, and goals.  Also, each person should be accepted into the school system as he or she is, and should be provided with a stimulating learning environment and numerous opportunities for success which should include offering and encouraging participation in a balanced and varied academic and extracurricular program.  These should be designed to promote behavioral development that will cause continuing satisfactory adjustments to new situations that he or she will meet as he or she grows to maturity and assumes his or her role as a responsible citizen in our society.

The principle function, therefore, is to extend learning experiences designed to motivate creativity in the individual with a deep satisfaction of continuing accomplishments.  In addition, the school will seek to accomplish this function through the commitment and total involvement of every person in the community.
