Ag Leadership Class Wraps Up Mentoring

by Tony Jensen

May 17, 2005

Throughout this semester, the Ag Leadership class buddied up with Mrs. Nieveen's Kindergarten class to do activities and have fun. Activities included Duck-Duck-Goose, Go Fish card game, Red Rover, and all sorts of coloring. The high school students would then journal about their experiences, what worked well, and what it means to be a role model to other people.

"A lot of times high school students do not realize they are role models until they get into a situation like this," said Mrs. Nieveen, Kindergarten teacher. "This is a good experience for both the high school students and the Kindergarteners."

"My favorite part of this is seeing the Kindergarteners get excited when the high school students enter the room," said Mr. Jensen, ag education teacher. "Their eyes get really big, they start squirming in their chair, and they shout out their high school buddy's name. To me, that is rewarding enough."
