October 31, 2005
Twenty-two junior high members of the Freeman FFA Chapter took an ag tour on the morning of Saturday, October 15th. The group first traveled to a corn maze in the rural Firth area, operated by two members of the Norris FFA Chapter. The group enjoyed that maze and then moved onto the Southeast Community College-Beatrice Campus to tour their ag department. While there, Lynn Schlake led the tour, which included the campus farm, animal science facilities, several classrooms, and other educational facilties on campus. After a noon lunch at Valentino's, the group continued their trip as they traveled to Exmark. While there, the group toured the assembly line and paint facility.
"This trip was a great opportunity for students to see future possibilities in the ag industry, whether it be at college or a career," said Mr. Jensen. "It also allows them to be exposed to places they may not get to otherwise tour."
The FFA chapter would like to especially thank Lynn Schlake and Cindy Jurgens for organizing tours for the day.
