Freeman FFA Officers Attend COLT

by Tony Jensen

August 07, 2006

On May 29-31, all seven Freeman FFA officers attended the Chapter Officer Leadership Training conference in Aurora, Nebraska. They are: Kristin Kroese, President; Jaycie Vanderbeek, Vice President; Stacie Goracke, Treasurer; Melissa Hottovy, Secretary; Jasmine Hagemeier, Reporter; Taylor Hesseltine, Sentinel; and Jerod Nieveen, Parliamentarian. This year’s theme was “Clue In To…”, and the workshops were presented by this year’s Nebraska State FFA Officers.

The conference is held annually to help chapter officers organize the upcoming year’s FFA events and activities and find ways to better serve the community and FFA chapter. “Investigative teams” was the title of workshops the chapter officers attended to learn leadership skills and pass those traits on to fellow FFA members. “Team time” was used to plan out next year’s activities and decide what changes should be made to make the FFA chapter more successful.

“COLT was a good opportunity for us to get together and decide what the officer team wanted to accomplish in the next year,” said Mr. Jensen. “The officers did a good job of focusing on their goals and I am excited to get the ball rolling on new ideas.”
