Intro to Ag Class Tests Soil

pH, Nitrogen and Phosphorous Tests Are Conducted

by Tony Jensen

September 27, 2006

The Intro to Ag class brought in their own soil samples and tested those samples for their pH, nitrogen, and phosphorous levels. Students were able to see the differences in soils collected at different locations and how the location affected their composition. Once completing the soil tests, they compared each sample to each other to determine which soil samples were best for plants.

Aubrey Banks makes sure the test is just right before reading the results.

"It was a good opportunity for the students to get hands-on experience," said Mr. Jensen. "The students enjoyed it and they realized the importance of measuring and hypothesizing in science and soil testing."
