Freeman FFA Member Earns American FFA Degree

First American Degree Recipient for Freeman FFA

by Tony Jensen

October 31, 2006

Timothy Nieveen, son of Jay and Teri Nieveen of Adams, received the American FFA Degree at the 79th National FFA Convention in Indianapolis on Saturday, October 28, 2006. It is the highest degree awarded by the National FFA Organization and is the first known American Degree recipient from Freeman High School. This degree recognizes Timothy’s leadership abilities and outstanding achievements in his FFA and Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) programs.

Less than one in 165 FFA members advance through their local chapter and state FFA degree programs to earn this national degree.

To commemorate this event, Nieveen received a gold American FFA Degree key, wallet ID card, and certificate. The recognition program is sponsored by Case IH, The Farm Credit System Foundation, and Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc. as a special project of the National FFA Foundation.

“Tim is a very deserving individual for this award,” said Mr. Jensen, Freeman FFA Advisor. “He has worked very hard on his SAE program and has earned valuable distinctions in the FFA. By Tim receiving this award, he set the example of what other students in this chapter can achieve if they are willing to dedicate themselves and work hard towards their goals.”
