The seven Freeman FFA officers for the 2007-08 school year participated in an officer retreat on May 29-31st at Carol Joy Holling Camp near Ashland. This year's chapter officers are Jasmine Hagemeier, Blake Ebbers, Jerod Nieveen, Matt Nieveen, Natalie Lenners, Kristen Anderson, and Kyle Schlake.
The group did many things while at the officer retreat. They set goals for the next school year, planned out new activities, and worked on opening ceremonies for their meetings. They also did several leadership activities, as well as participate in the challenge course and zip line. During the challenge course, they performed in activities such as the levitation platform, power perch, and flying squirrel.
The group received the whole outdoor experience by sleeping in tents, making fires, and battling the periodic rain shower. They also had some time to do some fishing and hiking.
"It was an important trip for our group to get some things accomplished and organized for the upcoming year," Mr. Jensen said. "It was also important to get some bonding time, telling stories, and having some free time to get to know each other better."
