Counselor News

ACT test dates are posted in the counselor’s office.  Students who are registered for the September date should see Ms. Petersen for a practice booklet.  The deadline to register for the October 27th date is in September.  I would encourage all seniors wanting to take the ACT to register for this date.

 

Thursday, September 6th at 6:30 p.m. is the Allied Health Exploration Evening at BryanLGH College of Health Sciences!  It is free to attend.  Interested students should check out the flyer in the counselor’s office.

 

The Nebraska Methodist College Representative will be here on Friday, September 28th at 10:15a.m.  Juniors and seniors interested in a medical field should indicate their intention to attend by signing up in the counselor’s office.

 

The University of Nebraska at Kearney representative will be here September, October 16th at 10:00a.m. Sign up in the counselor’s office if you wish to attend.

 

Seniors:  If you are interested in the computer science, business, or engineering and would be interested in applying for the J.D. Edwards Honors Program in Computer Science and Management at UNL, see Ms. Petersen for the four-year room and board scholarship application process.  The deadline is November 19, 2007.

 

Health Careers fair at UNK is Wednesday, October 24, 2007.  From 9:30 to 2:00p.m.  Open House Career fair, Informational Sessions and a campus tour is on the agenda.  If interested see me for more information.

 

The Southeast Community College Fair for the Lincoln area is Sunday, October 21st from 1:00p.m. to 3:30p.m.

 

Juniors and Seniors interested in learning more about politics: The United States Senate Youth Program provides a yearly opportunity for talented young people with demonstrated interest in public service to deepen their interest and understanding of America’s political processes.  If interested see Ms. Petersen about an application and the process for acceptance.  October 22nd is the deadline!!

 

Apply now for the Wendy’s High School Heisman!  This is a scholarship for both young men and women entering their senior year of high school, who have at least a “B” average and participate in at least one of the 33 sports officially sanctioned by the National Federation of State High Schools.  The first 36,000 students that complete an application will win a Wendy’s Gift Card in amounts ranging from $5.00 to $50.00.  Completed applications are due October 1st.  Go to the www.wendysheisman.com to apply.
