The junior high FFA members took an ag tour to two places in the south part of Lincoln on Saturday morning, October 13th. The group started out with a tour of the Bob Vogel acreage. Bob has turkeys, chickens, guineas, goats, dogs, and a donkey. The students got to interact with these animals and even take a farm fresh egg home if they wanted to.
The second stop for the day was at Pioneers Park. The group walked over to the raptor recovery area, where they could see predatory birds that have been found in the wild and are healing in captivity. The group then checked out the Prairie Center and Nature Center, where most students had the opportunity to pet a live snake before it got fed. The students also observed the elk and bison herds at Pioneers Park.
“It was good to see that many students (19) interested in taking ag tours this year,” said Mr. Jensen. “We would like to get out and see different types of agriculture in the local area as the year goes on.”
