by Becky Jobman

March 04, 2008

Four novices placed at the Waverly Forensic Classic on Saturday, March 1. Twenty-three teams competed in this final invitational before various district contests to be held in the next two weeks. The competition was tough as all classes were represented.

Earning medals in the Novice Division were:  Ashley Yates first in Persuasive, Shelby Koenig second in Extemporaneous, Holly Marker third in Informative, and Matt Nieveen fourth in Entertainment.

Matt competed for the first time in Humorous Impromptu.  These speechers have five minutes to prepare a humorous speech, which ideally will last three to five minutes.

The team will travel to Deshler on Monday, March 10 to compete in the C2-2 District Contest.  Freeman will compete against the host school along with Friend, Palmyra, Southern, Thayer Central, and Tri County.
