Track Teams Compete At Friend Invite

The Freeman track team competed in their first of three track meets this week when they traveled to Friend. There were 10 teams competing in both the boys and girls division and the Freeman girls came home with a 6th place finish. Winning the girls meet was East Butler with 120 points. Meridian was second with 97.33 points and Cross County was third with 95.33 points.
The girls had three first place finishes in the meet. Denae Wolken won the 800 meter run in a time of 2:38.8, Bailey Buhr won the the mile in a time of 6:46.1, and the girls 1600 meter relay finished in first. Members of the 1600 meter relay team are Jasmine Hagemeier, Bailey Buhr, Denae Wolken, and Megan Milke. Megan also placed fourth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 69.4 and Amber Mason placed 5th in the 1600 meter run with a time of 7:07.2.
East Butler also won the boys division with 137 points. Cross County outdistanced the Fairbury JV's 110 to 70 points to take the second place finish. The Freeman boys scored 12 points in the meet and finished in 9th place.
Ryan Busboom leaped 18' 7" to place third in the long jump. We had two placers in the 100 meter dash. Ryan finished 5th in a time of 11.7 and Jerod Nieveen finished 6th in a time of 11.8. Jerod also placed 6th in the triple jump with a leap of 37' 7". The boys 400 meter relay team consisting of Jerod Nieveen, Ryan Busboom, Matt Nieveen, and Cody O'Grady placed fifth with a time of 50.3.
The Falcons will travel to Johnson County Central tomorrow to compete in the Mudecas Track Meet.
