After two rain postponements, the Freeman junior high boys track team finally got a chance to compete in a track meet. The young men had great weather conditions as they participated in the Lewiston Invitational Track Meet held at Pawnee City on Wednesday, April 23, 2008.

One of several highlights for the Freeman boys was a new school record, which was set in the 400 meter relay by Kellen Unvert, Dallas Ashelford, Brandon Sedlacek, and Chandler Brandert. The Falcons ran in a time of 54.2 seconds, which eclipsed the time of 56.5 seconds set by Andy Goracke, Alex Torres, Matt Nieveen, and Taylor MacKichan in 2005. Freeman placed fifth in the event.

Kellen Unvert took home two more ribbons as he placed second in the shot put with a heave of 39� 7 ��. He also joined Brandon Sedlacek, Kyle Schoen, and Mitchell Hesseltine in the 1600 meter relay which placed fourth with a time of 4:27.6.

The Freeman 300 meter hurdle runners took three of the six places offered. Dallas Ashelford was second with a time of 52.5. Austin Ruskamp was fourth with the same time of 52.5 seconds. Chandler Brandert was fifth with a 53.1 clocking. Kyle Schoen also placed fourth in the 110 meter high hurdles with a time of 21.3 seconds.

The Freeman boys finished the meet in sixth place in the 10 team meet. The next competition for the Falcons will be the Pioneer Conference Track Meet held in Pawnee City on Saturday, May 3.
