Falcon Compete at Pioneer Conference Track Meet

Eleven schools competed in the Pioneer Conference Track meet held at Auburn on Saturday.  HTRS won the girls division with 109 points, Diller-Odell was second with 91 points and Falls City Sacred Heart was third with 84 points.  The Freeman girls finished sixth with 39 points.

 Denae Wolken led the Lady Falcons, winning both the 800 and 1600 meter runs.  She ran the 800 meters in a time of 2:27.3 and the 1600 meters in a time of 5:49.9, both of which were personal bests for her this season.  The Falcons picked up two places in the 400 meter dash.  Denae Wolken was third in a time of 63.8 and Bailey Buhr ran a 66.9 for a fifth place.  Amber Mason picked up a fourth place finish in the 3200 meter run with a time of 14:42.1.  Also placing was the 400 meter relay team consisting of Jasmine Hagemeier, Sara Marker, Denae Wolken, and Jenna Vanderbeek.

The Pawnee City boys ran away with the boys division.  They scored 151 points to defeat Nebraska City Lourdes who scored 83 points.  Sterling finished in third place with 63 points.  The Falcons tied Lewiston for ninth place with 13 points.

The Falcon 400 meter relay team consisting of Jerod Nieveen, Ryan Busboom, Matt Nieveen and Cody O'Grady finished in second place with a time of 47.5.  Jerod Nieveen and Ryan Busboom also picked up individual medals in the jumps.  Jerod was fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 38' 8.5" and Ryan was fifth in the long jump with a leap of 19' 1.5".  Also placing for the Falcons was the 3200 meter relay team of Eric Rapp, Phillip Schoen, Dillon Wallman and Jon Gronewold. They finished in sixth place with a time of 9:46.0.

The next competition for the Falcon track team will be Tuesday at the Freeman Invite which will be held at Doane College.  Field events will begin at 12:00 and running events are scheduled to begin at 2:00.
