Mencl Participates in 8-Man All-Star Game

Elliott Mencl of Freeman High School was selected to play in the 32nd Sertoma 8-Man All-Star game on Saturday, June 20. The annual all-star game of East vs. West took place at Hastings College at Lloyd Wilson Field. Mencl was one of 24 athletes selected to participate for the East team. He met some of the best 8-man players in the state.
Mencl had the opportunity to help the East squad by playing running back, safety, and kick offs. Mencl recorded one catch for 9 yards, had 5 tackles on defense/special teams, and one pass knock down. “I was happy to be able to play football again,” stated Mencl. “It was a fun week.”
Mencl’s coaches for the week were Ron Lund (Dodge), Kevin Hahm (Nebraska Lutheran), and Dave Uldrich (Allen).
