Freeman Speechers compete at Knights Invitational

Two-thirds of the speech team traveled to Nebraska City Lourdes Central Catholic for a small five-team meet on Saturday, February 13. Competing in twenty one events, the team found success and medaled in seventeen events. Once again the speechers battled against HTR-S and the Lourdes Central teams. They met Elmwood-Murdock for the second time of the season, and came up against the Nebraska City team for the first time. Earning medals were Kristen Andersen first in Informative and second in Persuasive; Shelby Koenig second in Extemp and Persuasive; Abbey Klein second in Humorous and third in OID; Ashley Ayres second in Serious Prose and fourth in Poetry; KC Frohman third in Serious Prose, fifth in Duet, and sixth in Poetry; Katherine Weber third in OID and fourth in Duet; Anna Jurgens first in Humorous Prose; Natalie Lenners and Amanda Wusk second in Duet; Sarah Page third in Poetry; Madison Boddy third in OID; Ashley Yates fourth in Entertainment; Katie Veskrna fourth in Duet; Wendy Rogers fifth in Duet; and Paul Bachman top novice in Extemp. The team has a busy schedule ahead with the Mustang Invitational at Sutton, the Pioneer Conference Tournament at Pawnee City on Wednesday, February 24 and the District Contest on Saturday, February 27. The public is invited to listen to the team members perform their selections at Speeches a la Mode which will be held Monday, March 1 starting at seven o’clock.
