Early Morning Odyssey

The Freeman Speech Team attended the Mustang Invitational on Saturday, February 21. Twenty-six members made the long trip to Sutton for this twenty-one team competition.
The speechers saw different teams in this highly competitive event. Breaking finals were Anna Jurgens fourth in Humorous Prose, Shelby Koenig fourth in Persuasive and the Duet with Amanda Wusk and Natalie Lenners placing fifth.
The top ten in each event were also awarded medals. Bringing home ninth place was Abbey Klein in Humorous Prose. Tenth place finishers were Paul Bachman in Extemporaneous and the Duet with Katherine Weber and Katie Veskrna.
Trying new events for this meet were Courtney Buhr and Halley Dorn in Duet, Morgan Lenners in Entertainment, and Katie Veskrna in Serious Prose.
Many students improved with their times and ratings from previous meets. The team will split up for the next meets by gearing up for the District Competition at Meridian and novice competition at HTRS both on Saturday, February 27th.
A special opportunity to get a taste of the varied talents will be at Speeches a la Mode to be held Monday, March 1st at seven o’clock. Advance tickets are three dollars, but will be four dollars the night of the event.
