Freeman JV Football Picks Up Win over Pawnee City
October 12, 2009
A week after suffering a 48-8 loss to the Johnson-Brock Eagles, the
Freeman JV football team returned to action Monday, October
12th. The Falcons were able to come away with a
victory by defeating the visiting Pawnee City Indians by a score of
20-6.
Big plays were key to the Falcon’s success in the first half as
they managed to break big plays and ultimately take the game.
On the Falcon’s first drive and only second play of the game,
Dallas Ashelford took and inside handoff and managed to break a
tackle that lead to a 60 yard touchdown run. In the second
quarter, Chandler Brandert was able to break open his own touchdown
run by scoring from 35 yards out. To end the scoring in the
first half, Kyle Schoen found Dylan Schoneweis behind the defense
and completed a touchdown pass that totaled 47 yards. At the
end of the first half Freeman led Pawnee City 20-0.
In the second half the defensive groups for both teams found
success as neither team was able to get on the board. Pawnee
City was able to score one touchdown, but Freeman’s defense force
fumbles, put pressure on the quarterback, and intercept three pass
to hold their lead.
Overall, the effort by the Falcons moved the JV record to 3 wins and 2 losses going into their final game next Monday, October 19th, when they visit the Lewiston Tigers in Lewiston at 5:00 pm.
