Freeman Junior High Girls Take on Johnson County Central

The Freeman junior high girls’ basketball team traveled to Cook, Nebraska to take on Johnson County Central on Monday, January 25, 2010.  The Falcons took on a feisty group of JCC girls in an A-team game and were knotted up at 6-6 after the first quarter.  However, the Freeman crew got the offense on track in the second quarter scoring 14 points and giving up three.  At the end of three, Freeman held a 26-11 lead.  The Falcons coasted to a 30-13 win.  

Chelsea Rapp and Katie Meyer led Freeman with seven points each.  Cassidy Mason had six.  Claire Richardson and Riley Dorn had four apiece.  Marissa Haynes added two.  Lauren Klaasmeyer led JCC with four.

In the B-team game, the Falcons had a lead throughout most of the game until the last minute, when JCC mounted a tremendous rally.  Freeman led 4-3 after one and 8-5 at the half.  After three Freeman still led 12-7.  But the Thunderbirds scored nine in the final quarter and only gave up two to post a 16-14 win.  

Jessica Larkins scored six to lead Freeman.  Alaina Huls added four.  Megan Matthes and Hannah Neil had two apiece.  Hanna Carnagey led JCC with eight points.

In a C-team half, the Falcons had a little trouble getting on track.  Freeman trailed 6-4 after the first quarter and failed to score in the second while giving up another six.  

Olivia Ablerts led Freeman with four.  Lindsay Weber had eight for the Thunderbirds.
