The Freeman junior high girls’ basketball team wasted little time in racing to an early first quarter lead which the visiting Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer Titans would not be able to recover from. In a game played at Freeman on Monday, February 1st, Freeman scored 10 points in a little over a minute at the start of the game. They held an 18-3 lead after the first quarter. By halftime, the Falcons were ahead 34-4. The Falcon offense continued to roll in the third as Freeman led 46-8 going into the final quarter. Freeman went on to post a 48-14 win.
Chelsea Rapp and Marissa Haynes led Freeman with 12 points each. Riley Dorn scored eight. Cassidy Mason had six points. Jessica Larkins put in four. Taylor Sugden, Courtney Ideus, and Emily Osterhaus each added a 2-pointer. HTRS was led by C. Allen and M. Sharpe, each with three.
The B-team game was a bit closer. Freeman ran up leads of 6-4 and 12-5 at the end of the first two quarters. However, the Titans began a rally in the second half. At the end of three, the score was 14-11. Freeman was unable to score in the final period but held off a late HTRS spurt to win 14-13.
