Lady Falcons Go 1-1 in the Pioneer Conference Tournament
February 06, 2010
The Lady Falcons competed in the Pioneer Conference Tournament during the week of February 1st. On Monday, the Falcons took on the Johnson-Brock Eagles in the #8 and #9 seed match-up. Even though the Eagles took and early 12-9 lead after one quarter, the Lady Falcons were able to take a six point lead at half and extend to a 47-35 win. The Falcons were led in scoring by Shelby Mason with 13 points and the team set a season low of 12 turnovers. The extra possessions allowed the Falcons to create more shot opportunities and earn the win.
The next evening, Tuesday February 2nd,
the Falcons took on the Falls City Sacred Heart Irish, the #1 seed
in the tournament. The two teams competed in a close match in the
1st half as the Lady Irish lead by two after the 1st quarter and
six after the 2nd quarter. After half time, however, the Lady
Falcons were not able to make shots and the Lady Irish were able to
pull out a 52-32 win by hitting free throws and scoring transition
points against the press. “Even though we competed hard, we were
not able to secure enough rebounds and keep the opponent from
getting offensive rebounds. On the other end, we didn’t get enough
shots to fall, even though we were able to use quick passes to get
quality shots,” said Coach Andreasen. The Falcons were led in
scoring by Kylie Trobee’s 16 points.
Freeman’s record now stands at 8-11. The Lady Falcons will take on Sterling and Tri-County before competing in sub-districts during the week of February15th.
