Wrestlers Compete at Turkey Creek Invite
2nd Place with Eight Medalist

Freeman had twelve wrestlers compete in the Turkey Creek Invitational on Thursday, February 4, and eight wrestlers came home with a medal. This placed the team second in team points with 108.5.
Mitch Hesseltine (152) and Kevin Weyers (171) were both gold medal winners. Hesseltine recorded three pins and one tech fall. Weyers also recorded three pins and received an injury default for his fourth win.
Nate Milke (160) received a silver medal. He went 3-1 and won all of his matches by pin.
Austin Ruskamp (140) and Evan Buss (215) both won bronze medals. Both wrestlers went 2-2 and recorded two pins.
Brian Nieveen (103), Chase Heble (130), and Chandler Brandert (145) all received a fourth place medal. Nieveen went 1-3 and won his match by injury default. Heble went 2-2 and recorded two pins, while Brandert went 1-3 and recorded one pin.
“The team competed well today,” stated Coach Troxel. “We lost some close matches that could have gone either way. We need to keep getting better and be able to win these close matches next week. We have one more week until districts, and need to have a great week of practice. Many goals that the wrestlers have set could be obtained by the end of this week.”
Freeman will travel to Sutton for the D-1 District on Friday and Saturday, February 12 - 13. Districts start at 3:00 PM on Friday and 10:00 AM on Saturday.
