On Tuesday, March 2, the Freeman High School boys basketball team qualified for the State Basketball Tournament by defeating East Butler High School in the district finals at Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln
Freeman has earned the first seed in the tournament and will play the opening round at 9:00 am vs. Sandhills/Thedford. This game will be played on Thursday, March 11, at Lincoln Northeast High School.
Because of the scheduled time of all of the first round games, Freeman Public Schools will not be holding any K-12 classes on Thursday, March 11.
Semi-finals will be played at 9:00 am and at 10:45 am on Friday, March 12, at Pershing Auditorium. A first round win by Freeman means they would play the 9:00 am game on Friday. The opponent would be the winner of Humphrey and Emerson-Hubbard.
Freeman is already scheduled to have no school on Friday, March 12 as shown on the school calendar.
The finals are scheduled to be played on Saturday, March 13, at 9:30 at the Bob Devaney Sports Complex. If Freeman should lose its semi-final game, the third place game will be played at Lincoln Northeast at Noon on Saturday.
For specific game information, check the Lincoln Journal-Star newspaper, or the Nebraska School Activities Association website (www.nsaahome.org).
