SPECIFICATIONS:  The specifications described below define the type of senior photo required by Freeman High School.  Please follow these guidelines and deadlines.

1. Size – The overall size of the print is to be approximately 2” X 3” or standard wallet size.  The head should not vary more than 1/8” from a standard length of 1 ½” from the bottom of the chin to the top of the head. The pose on the wallet must be vertical.

2. Head Line – The head line should stand out distinctly from the background.

3. Background – The background should be a medium tone; brown, blue or gray plain background.  It should be an indoor setting.  Plants, flowers, hands, or other objects should not be in the picture.

4. Tone – Faces should stand out from the background and have enough color contrast to avoid a flat, faint, or shallow appearance.

5. Lighting – Faces should be uniformly and evenly lit without heavy black shadows, squinting, or over/under exposure.  No soft focus or diffusion should be used.

6. Poses – Students should be posed conservatively in a full face and shoulders portrait.  A full front or slightly to the side pose is preferred.  Avoid extreme angles, profile views, silhouettes, or double exposures. No full length poses.

7. Clothing – Girls should select a blouse, sweater, or dress that is a becoming color.  No strapless outfits nor spaghetti straps should be worn.  Minimal jewelry (small necklaces and earrings).  No words or symbols on clothing.  No hats.

Boys should select a suit or sport coat with long neckties or bow ties.  Other possibilities might be sport shirts with top button open; turtlenecks or v-neck sweaters with shirts.  No words or symbols on clothing.  Minimal jewelry only and no hats.  No T-shirts.

Appointments should be made in late summer or early fall to allow time for photographers to make proofs, for the student to make selections, and for photographers to fill orders.  The senior must have at least three photos of the same pose for the school (head/shoulder pose).  These must be turned into the yearbook staff by December 21, 2011.  The photo for the composite will not be returned.  The other two pictures are used by the newspapers and will be returned to the student.  Do not submit photos that have been copied on a personal printer. This is illegal.
