Freeman Kindergarten Celebrate 100 Days of School
During the week of January 16th, the kindergarten classes of Mrs. Marker and Mrs. Nieveen prepared for a celebration of the 100th Day of School. Students brought in creative projects they created at home using 100 objects such as a snowman made from 100 cotton balls. Some brought 100 good tasting treats they counted out at home to put into our “100 Day Stew”, which is a mix of the edible items brought in. Others wore 100 items or brought in a collection of 100 things. Gabriel Goes brought in a T-shirt with 100 signatures on it.
The classes worked on many activities to help them count to 100 such as practicing writing to 100, measuring 100 blocks to see how far it would go, and writing about what they would buy with $100, just to name a few. Also during the week the two classes had a chance to guess which jar, out of 5 jars, had exactly 100 items inside of it. On the 100th day, which was January 20th, the students came together and graphed the guesses then counted the contents. They discovered that every jar had 100. This was a great science lesson as they realized they ALL had 100 items, yet some looked like they had more in them than others. All of the kindergartners were excited to reach the 100th day!
