Quiz Team Members Announced

Congratulations to the following students who made 2012 Freeman High School and Junior High Quiz Bowl teams! High school members: Andy Buhr, Cameron Connelly, Adam Frerichs, Jessica Larkins, Blake Lenners, Philipp Levine, Jonathan Neil, Austin Ruskamp, Gerrit VanEngen, and Jeffrey Wallman. Junior high members: Evan DeBoer, Emily Klein, Zach Krieger, Taylor Larkins, Kylie Lawson, Kaitlyn Meints, Rachel Page, Brannon Renken, Joslyn Schiebur, and Gabe VanEngen. We had an astounding turnout at tryouts this year with 15 high school students and 25 junior high students trying out.
Quiz Bowl is an academic competition played by matching up two teams of four players each. A moderator reads questions to the teams, whose players’ goals are to buzz in the correct response, scoring points for their team. Commonly, the first team to score the most points in ten minutes wins the round and advances on to the next round. Competitions are usually set up by pool play and/or brackets.
To date, both teams are scheduled to compete in four quiz bowls each. The first high school quiz bowl will be the Pioneer Conference Quiz Bowl at HTRS on March 15, while the first junior high quiz bowl will be the Pioneer Conference Quiz Bowl at Nebraska City Lourdes on March 19.
