A group of 3rd graders recently visited Gold Crest Retirement Center. This was their first visit of the new school year. Half of the class of thirty-three students made this visit and completed get-to-know-you interviews with their special Freeman Friends. The third graders have been visiting Gold Crest several times a year for over 25 years. The visits are part of a community service project which started out as the Adopt-a-Grandparent project, and has since evolved into the Freeman Friends project. The whole class will visit again for its Halloween party on October 30, and half the group monthly after that. Both students and residents benefit from the knowledge and enthusiasm of each month’s visit and anxiously anticipate the next. The third grade teachers are Mrs. Aimee Parde and Mrs. Shirley Yates.
