The Bear Ate the Sandwich, and So Did We!

The Bear Ate the Sandwich, And So Did We!

Freeman Elementary participated in Read for the Record on Thursday, October 27. We joined people all around the world by reading the book "A Bear Ate Your Sandwich" by Julia Sarcone-Roach. The elementary and preschool classrooms were paired up to hear the book read and then students read with each other. To get into the spirit of the day, students brought stuffed animals and blankets they would take on a picnic. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches were provided by the PTO so that we could snack on a sandwich just as the bear did in the book (really, it was the dog!). Jumpstart’s Read for the Record® (RFTR) is a national campaign that was launched over a decade ago to address the educational inequities that leave too many children unprepared for kindergarten. Freeman has been participating the last several years.
