5th Grade Tree Planting

Story image 1_0

During the late fall, the Freeman fifth graders were fortunate to be able to help plant a maple tree donated to our school by the Exmark corporation in Beatrice.  Students were given a short lesson on the use of trees in our environment and in different areas of manufacturing.  All of the fifth graders were able to be a part of placing the tree in the ground and took turns shoveling the dirt back around the planted tree.  The maple is located on the west side of the building next to the preschool area.  Thanks to Dr. Michl and Seth Weber for digging the original hole for the tree, and to the Exmark company for their generous donation to Freeman Public Schools.  The kids will remember this day each time they pass by the tree and will look back on this moment for many years to come.
